From sun-soaked LA to fog-filled San Francisco, the winding oceanside drive up Highway 1 has been nothing short of a much coveted post-exam adventure.
LOS ANGELES - PISMO BEACH - MONTEREY - SAN FRANCISCO
Los Angeles was a tie-dye of mercurial trends and vibrant character, saturated with ocean salt and dazzling sun. It was barely a winter-- I was in shorts the whole time. As we drove up, it got a little colder, especially passing the idyllic Pismo Beach, where I was lucky enough to wake up for a gorgeous sunrise. Driving through Big Sur saw the flora shift from desert spruce to lush green as we climbed up cliffside, passing by herds of zebras (to our amazement). Monterey called for a visit to its famed aquarium, where I spent much too long entranced by the playful sea otters and the breathtaking open sea exhibit. Our last stop was San Francisco, where I indulged in the customary coffee crawl (and the occasional taco break). Great memories were made, good food was consumed and I couldn't have asked for anything different.
